We have gotten our first glipse at the newest James Bond movie, Spectre. The teaser trailer was released today and, like its predecessor Skyfall, reveals just enough to get viewers excited about the latest 007 thriller without giving too much away just yet. In fact, what makes the Spectre teaser so unique is there is absolutely no action shots whatsoever.
You can take a look at the teaser trailer over here.
You can certainly see the continuation of what Mendes did with Skyfall in the mood and camerawork, despite having a new cinematographer. I like that Mr. White has returned since he was a loose end left over from Quantum of Solace and the old SPECTRE ring from the Connery films was a nice touch.
I'm not thrilled with what is being alluded to with Bond having a family, biological or adoptive it is not yet clear, connection to the film's antagonist, but being that the teaser trailer doesn't give much away this could be a purposeful misdirection. I'm not yet ready to call the entire thing a failure because of this like some are already doing.
Well, until the full-length trailer or an announcement of who is performing the film's theme song is released, this will have to tide me over, but it is certainly a great tease to what will come.
